Pet Crate Size Calculator for Air Travel

A crate that's too small gets your pet turned away at check-in. Enter four quick measurements and we'll work out the minimum size airlines accept, and which standard crate fits.

Measure standing up

Measure your pet standing naturally, with a soft tape. Round up to the nearest centimetre, and measure twice. Most mistakes come from measuring a pet that's sitting or lying down.

Room to turn around

Airlines follow IATA rules: your pet must be able to stand, sit up straight, turn around and lie down naturally. Ears must not touch the roof, and flat-faced breeds need a bigger crate.

Check before you buy

Some airlines ask for more room than the IATA minimum, and very large dogs need a custom wooden crate. Send us your result and we'll confirm it against your airline.
